Pond Service Thousand Oaks by a Pro

In need of a Pond Service in Thousand Oaks?

Summer is the time to get your pond looking its best. Unfortunately summer can also make your pond look its worst. With more sun means more light which means more plant and algae growth. Plant growth can be beautiful, colorful with flowers and well arranged. But algae growth is always unpleasant and an eye sore in a pond. The trick is to get your plant life thriving so bad algae won’t thrive.

Saltwater Solutions can offer you pond services in Thousand Oaks and Wood Ranch. Our goal is to make your pond its best! Our pond service concentrates on the chemistry, health and overall beauty of your pond. We start by evaluating your existing pond, we make sure the pumps and filters are working and up to par, we make sure that there is enough bacteria breakdown, we work on having close to 70% of pond surface covered with beautiful beneficial plant growth, we remove waste and scrub algae while performing a water change. Mother Nature has had it right for millions of years….why fight it. Our methods are Mother Nature approved; we work on creating a working/living ecosystem in your pond. Without plants using up nutrients and nutrients being removed by a 30-50% water change your pond can quickly turn into a swamp! For continued pond beauty we offer a regular scheduled pond service that gives you piece of mind. We can supply fish and live plants at competitive prices. We can supply large or small koi fish and beautiful unique aquatic plants. We also will brain storm with you on any aquatic problems you might be having. Also we can train you as we work. Cheap Aquarium Maintenance Advice by a Local Pro

Cheap Aquarium Maintenance

Maintaining your aquarium can get expensive, but don’t worry if you’re on
a budget there are some cheap and easy tips to help keep your aquarium healthy and
beautiful. It’s easy to get frustrated with expensive aquarium products, but don’t give up
on your aquarium; it’s worth the effort. With a little TLC and improvising your tank can
thrive beyond your wildest dreams.

Tap water is fine for most fresh water fish, as long as you dechlorinate the water first; your local fish store should have this product in stock. Simple tricks like using Baking Soda to raise carbonate hardness (KH) and pH will cut cost on purchasing high priced buffers. Epsom Salt will raise general hardness (GH) in your aquarium.  Make sure to research your aquatic specimens preferred water parameters. Once you have found the right levels for your aquarium you can slowly add Baking Soda and Epsom Salt to raise pH, carbonate hardness (KH), and general hardness (GH) to the correct levels. Make sure to always test your water first. Unfortunately there are no easy short cuts for good salt water; reverse osmosis water mixed with high quality sea salt is a must.

To save money on water, and improve any aquariums health it’s best to perfect your feeding. This can reduce the amount of water you may have to use to bring down waste levels during a water change. Overfeeding is a common mistake. When you feed your fish make sure that no food goes to the filters or anywhere else where it can rot your
water. Feeding your fish once to twice a day is fine on average. Turning off your pumps and slowly adding food as the fish eat is the best so they get plenty but no food hits the ground or filter. When you do perform your water change use every bit of water you take out to remove waste or uneaten food. Less excess food equals better water which equals
less money on water changing

Filtration pad replacement can be one of the biggest cost in aquarium
maintenance. Why not just clean your existing pads? Most filter pads rinse great with a good hose nozzle. A common filter method in saltwater is an overflow into a filter sock.
Filter socks can be soaked in a bucket of 25% bleach and 75% hose water for a half hour or so. This bleach bucket technique can be used for artificial plants and other aquarium decorations. Rinse well with a powerful hose until the strong bleach smell is gone and it’s
good as new. This can be done many times before the filter sock or artificial plant falls apart.

If you are keeping a saltwater reef or a fresh water planted tank you know it
can get expensive filling your entire aquarium with life. If you’re on a budget look for
specimens that can be split spread easily. With just a few specimens be it coral or plant
you can eventually fill you whole tank with a live beautiful layout. For salt water corals
star polyps, zooanthids, mushrooms and leather corals can quickly and beautifully fill
your aquarium’s every square inch. For fresh water plants grasses, mosses, ludwigia,
wisteria, foxtail, saggitaria, and much more can spread or be spread very easy and look
great. My favorite thing to do is trade clippings with friends or the local fish stores to
widen my specimen collection.
